Nortel iPhones

Michael Krax — Thu, 05/10/2007 - 15:06

Cedric Hans has developed a Asterisk channel driver which allows Asterisk to connect with Nortel iphones using the UNISTIM protocol. You can get the original drivers from http://www.mlkj.net/UNISTIM/. The drivers do not support all Asterisk functions; I specifically missed support for multiple lines. So I decided to enhance the driver. Up until now, I have gained some understanding of the communication protocol used between the server and the phone. I also started to improve the "user interface" on the phone, but progress is slow. Without the great work done by Cedric (especially in understanding the basic communication method) this would not have been possible. I will make available a copy of the source code if my version has a real advantage to Cedric'. For now, its strictly "works-for-me". If you want to check on my progress, drop me a line and I will send you my current source code tree.
